

Kogermann Karin

Karin Kogermann is a Professor of Physical Pharmacy and Head of Institute of Pharmacy at the University of Tartu, Estonia. She received her Ph.D. in Pharmacy from University of Helsinki in 2008, researching solid state transformations of drugs using vibrational spectroscopy and multivariate modelling. Afterwards, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the field of biotechnology at the Institute of Technology, University of Tartu, Antibiotics laboratory and established her Physical Pharmacy research group in 2015. Currently her laboratory is named Pharmaceutical R&D Laboratory (www.kogermannlab.com). Her research interests include solid state analysis, infection treatment, development of functional antimicrobial nanostructured biomaterials and drug delivery systems (DDSs) for wound healing applications and understanding their structure-activity relationships. Prof Kogermann is acting as an expert in the European Pharmacopoeia G12 group and Estonian State Agency of Medicine and she is a member of the Estonian Academical Society of Pharmacy and founder member of the Estonian Young Academy of Sciences. She is also a CEO and Co-Founder of University of Tartu spin-off company EsaDres.
